The Artists
Joanna Baker is an illustrator living in New York City. She enjoys sketching happy, pretty things that inspire joy with whimsical subjects and bright colors. Joanna has been fortunate enough to collaborate with brands big and small and currently sells her own line of illustrated art prints, stationery, and gifts.
Susanne Ball: Born in the Virgin Islands and raised in Colorado, artist Susanne Ball has always been inspired by nature. Her tropical acrylic paintings showcase some of Hawaii's most dramatic landscapes, bringing out the vibrant colors and textures found only on the Islands.
Susanne began painting at the age of 11 while growing up on a farm in Colorado. With no access to TV, she spent her time wandering the fields and painting the dramatic landscapes. Years later, she still finds the most inspiration painting on location. She often retreats to the white sand beaches of Hawaii or hikes into the mountains to paint the lush tropical jungle and waterfalls.
Her work has been featured in numerous magazines and has been on display in art galleries throughout California, Hawaii, and Washington. Susanne holds a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts from the University of California Santa Cruz, and also attended classes at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco.
Jorge Barrios: Jorge was born in Florida to Cuban parents who migrated to the US from Fidel Castro’s Communist Cuba. From an early age, Jorge found that creativity was his strength, and he was motivated and inspired by his teachers. Following many awards and achievements during his school years, Jorge began a successful career in Commercial Advertising.
In recent years Jorge has expressed his Cuban flavor and passion for fine art on canvas. His work is influenced by masters like Amelia Pelaez, local artists and his family. Jorge’s most recent pieces are colorful, vibrant, impactful and expressive. Themes vary from abstract to surrealism, but always remain true to his Cuban culture.
Connie Hennings-Chilton: Art was Connie's passion since growing up in Canada, filling long winter days with drawing faces and figures. After starting a career in nursing and traveling around the world, Connie decided to make Hawaii her home in 1975, and began painting full time in 1986.
She has painted portraits of the executives of Amfac, created designs for phone line USA, Calvary Lutheran Church and, Hawaiian Airlines. Card, pillow, and Children book designs for Island Heritage Publishing Co. and card designs for Laurel Ink of Seattle. She was a Signature member of the Hawaii Watercolor Society, a member of the National League of American Pen Women, and a member of the Association of Hawaii Artists, and has acted as show chair for the Hawaii Watercolor society, and the National League of American Pen Women. In 2009 her artwork was displayed at the Aloha Monarch Hula Festival in Fukuoka, Japan. "Legend of the Taro" was used as their cover design.
Kara Ashley Shreeve: Born and raised in south Florida, Kara has a passion for creating and bringing art into the world. From musical theater, to photography and a BFA in graphic design, it was a personal fashion blog, which ultimately led her to a career in fashion illustration.
Inspired by social media influencers and fashion icons alike, Kara’s colorful fashion & lifestyle illustrations showcase a laid back, cool-girl style. Whether out on a coffee run or heading to a fancy event, life is always full of style. Kara has been featured in Lucky Magazine, MTV Style, Glamour.com, SheKnows and The Zoe Report by Rachel Zoe. Her clients and collaborations include Good to Be by Alexandrea Garza, Mallory Ervin, Betsy Pittard Jewelry, Comlux Aviation, Kohls and Covergirl.
